Gene Hackman died in Santa Fe on February 26, 2025 at the age of 95. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Hackman, a cultural icon
Born in San Bernardino on January 30, 1930, Gene Hackman's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Hackman was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1978 he touched the hearts of millions as Lex Luthor in ‘Superman’. His legacy will continue to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
Although Gene Hackman is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
