It has been exactly 11 long years since George Jones died in Nashville on April 26, 2013 at the age of 81. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.
Today, fans of George Jones (The Grand Tour, White Lightning, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Jones, a cultural icon
Born George Glenn Jones in Saratoga on September 12, 1931, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Jones was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1974 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘The Grand Tour’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
It's been 11 years since the tragic loss of George Jones and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although George Jones is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
