It has been exactly 11 long years since Georges Moustaki died in Nice on May 23, 2013 at the age of 79. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.

Moustaki, a cultural icon
Born Giuseppe Mustacchi in Alexandria on May 3, 1934, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Moustaki was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1969 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘Le Métèque’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
