Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Hikaru Utada, 43, and her partner had split up. Is the singer best known for her album First Love really single again?

Utada spotted alone

A fan spotted Hikaru Utada walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of March 18, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Hikaru back on the market?

A rep for Hikaru Utada was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the singer was splitting hit the internet Thursday (March 19), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
