It has been exactly 11 long years since J.J. Cale died in La Jolla on July 26, 2013 at the age of 74. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.

Today, fans of J.J. Cale (Cocaine, After Midnight, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Cale, a cultural icon

Born John Weldon Cale in Tulsa on December 5, 1938, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Cale was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1966 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘After Midnight’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.

It's been 11 years since the tragic loss of J.J. Cale and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although J.J. Cale is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
