Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Jane Campion, 72, and her partner had split up. Is the director best known for the movie The Piano really single again?

Campion spotted alone

A fan spotted Jane Campion walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of August 25, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Jane back on the market?

A rep for Jane Campion was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the director was splitting hit the internet Wednesday (August 26), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
