Is the 40-year-old singer officially back on the market?

Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Janelle Monáe, 40, and her partner had split up. Is the singer best known for her role in Moonlight and best known for her hit song Tightrope really single again?

Monáe spotted alone

A fan spotted Janelle Monáe walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of December 13, 2025. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Janelle back on the market?

A rep for Janelle Monáe was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the singer was splitting hit the internet Sunday (December 14), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
