It has been exactly 20 long years since Jean Lefebvre died in Marrakech on July 9, 2004 at the age of 84. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Born Jean Marcel Lefebvre in Valenciennes on October 3, 1919, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Lefebvre was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1963 he touched the hearts of millions as Paul Volfoni in ‘Monsieur Gangster’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
