It has been exactly 7 long years since Jean Rochefort died in Paris on October 9, 2017 at the age of 87. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Rochefort, a cultural icon
Born in Paris on April 29, 1930, Jean Rochefort's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Rochefort was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1996 he touched the hearts of millions as le marquis de Bellegarde in ‘Ridicule’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
