Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Joan Baez, 85, and her partner had split up. Is the singer best known for hit songs like Diamonds & Rust or The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down really single again?

Baez spotted alone

A fan spotted Joan Baez walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of September 15, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Joan back on the market?

A rep for Joan Baez was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the singer was splitting hit the internet Wednesday (September 16), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
