It has been exactly 46 long years since John Cazale died in New York on March 12, 1978 at the age of 42. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Cazale, a cultural icon
Born John Holland Cazale in Revere on August 12, 1935, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Cazale was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1972 he touched the hearts of millions as Fredo Corleone in ‘The Godfather’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
