Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Judith Butler, 70, and her partner had split up. Is the author of Gender Trouble really single again?

Butler spotted alone

A fan spotted Judith Butler walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of March 18, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Judith back on the market?

A rep for Judith Butler was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the philosopher was splitting hit the internet Thursday (March 19), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
