Remembering Katherine Johnson, 4 Years Later

It has been exactly 4 long years since Katherine Johnson died in Newport News on February 24, 2020 at the age of 101. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed scientists of her generation.

Today, fans of Katherine Johnson along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic woman she was.

Johnson, a cultural icon

Born Katherine Coleman Goble Johnson in White Sulphur Springs on August 26, 1918, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Johnson was not just a great scientist, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique heritage.

It's been 4 years since the tragic loss of Katherine Johnson and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Katherine Johnson is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
