Is the 40-year-old actress officially back on the market?

Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Leighton Meester, 40, and her partner had split up. Is the actress best known for her role on the television series Gossip Girl really single again?

Meester spotted alone

A fan spotted Leighton Meester walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of October 21, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Leighton back on the market?

A rep for Leighton Meester was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the actress - known for having been romantically involved with Adam Brody, Sebastian Stan, Garrett Hedlund or Aaron Himelstein - was splitting hit the internet Thursday (October 22), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
