It has been exactly 10 long years since Luise Rainer died in London on December 30, 2014 at the age of 104. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation.
Today, fans of Luise Rainer (The Good Earth, The Great Ziegfeld, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic woman she was.
Rainer, a cultural icon
Born in Düsseldorf on January 12, 1910, Luise Rainer's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in German history. Rainer was not just a great actress, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1937 she touched the hearts of millions as O-Lan in ‘The Good Earth’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique heritage.
It's been 10 years since the tragic loss of Luise Rainer and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Luise Rainer is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
