Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Mariah Carey, 55, and her partner had split up. Is the singer best known for hit songs like All I Want for Christmas Is You, Vision of Love or I'll Be There really single again?

Carey spotted alone

A fan spotted Mariah Carey walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 7, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Mariah back on the market?

A rep for Mariah Carey was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the singer - known for having been romantically involved with Luis Miguel, Eddie Griffin, Nick Cannon, Tommy Mottola, Derek Jeter, Marcus Schenkenberg or Eric Benét - was splitting hit the internet Thursday (January 8), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
