Born Maïtèna Marie Brigitte Doumenach in Soulac-sur-Mer on October 5, 1939, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Laforêt was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1972 she touched the hearts of millions with ‘Viens, viens’. Her legacy will continue to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique musical heritage.
Although Marie Laforêt is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
