It has been exactly 5 long years since Marie Laforêt died in Genolier on November 2, 2019 at the age of 80. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed singers of her generation.

Laforêt, a cultural icon
Born Maïtèna Marie Brigitte Doumenach in Soulac-sur-Mer on October 5, 1939, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Laforêt was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1972 she touched the hearts of millions with ‘Viens, viens’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique musical heritage.
It's been 5 years since the tragic loss of Marie Laforêt and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Marie Laforêt is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
