Is the Velvet Underground ex-drummer officially back on the market?

Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Velvet Underground ex-drummer Maureen Tucker, 81, and her partner had split up. Is the American musician really single again?

Tucker spotted alone

A fan spotted Maureen Tucker walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 15, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Maureen back on the market?

A rep for Maureen Tucker was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the musician was splitting hit the internet Friday (January 16), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
