It has been exactly 4 long years since Max von Sydow died in Seillans on March 8, 2020 at the age of 90. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Born Carl Adolf von Sydow in Lund on April 10, 1929, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Swedish history. Von Sydow was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1973 he touched the hearts of millions as Father Lankester Merrin in ‘The Exorcist’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
