Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Melanie Safka, 79, and her partner had split up. Is the singer best known for hit songs like Brand New Key or Ruby Tuesday really single again?

Safka spotted alone

A fan spotted Melanie Safka walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 31, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Melanie back on the market?

A rep for Melanie Safka was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the singer was splitting hit the internet Sunday (February 1), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
