It has been exactly 32 long years since Miles Davis died in Santa Monica on September 28, 1991 at the age of 65. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed musicians of his generation.

Born in Alton on May 25, 1926, Miles Davis' career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Davis was not just a great musician, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
