Nicholas Brendon died in San Francisco on March 20, 2026 at the age of 54. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Brendon, a cultural icon
Born Nicholas Brendon Schultz in Los Angeles on April 12, 1971, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Brendon was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1997 he touched the hearts of millions as Xander Harris in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. His legacy will continue to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
Although Nicholas Brendon is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
