It has been exactly 15 long years since Patrick Swayze died in Los Angeles on September 14, 2009 at the age of 57. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Swayze, a cultural icon
Born in Houston on August 18, 1952, Patrick Swayze's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Swayze was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1990 he touched the hearts of millions as Sam Wheat in ‘Ghost’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
