It has been exactly one year since The King Pelé died in São Paulo on December 29, 2022 at the age of 82. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed footballers of his generation.

Today, fans of Pelé along with the rest of the sports world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Pelé, a cultural icon

Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento in Três Corações on October 23, 1940, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Brazilian history. Pelé was not just a great footballer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been one year since the tragic loss of Pelé and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Pelé is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
