The iconic and legendary journalist turns 90 on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025.

Philippe Gildas is celebrating his 90th birthday today. As a number of online tributes attest, he is one of the most acclaimed journalists of his generation.

Popular journalist-television host Philippe Gildas (Nulle Part Ailleurs, ...) has always liked to keep a bit of himself hidden from view. At 90th birthday, he remains a man of many facets.

Gildas, a cultural icon

Born in Auray on November 12, 1935, Philippe Gildas' career spans an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Gildas' not just a great journalist, he's an inspiration, an icon and a successful business man. At this point in his career, there seems to be little Philippe hasn't done.

And we've got a feeling the next 12 months are going to be even bigger and better for Philippe Gildas as he promises more to come. After all, he's only 90.
