Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Queen Paola of Belgium, 88, and her partner had split up. Is the Belgian monarch really single again?

Ruffo di Calabria spotted alone

A fan spotted Queen Paola of Belgium walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 11, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Paola back on the market?

A rep for Queen Paola of Belgium was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the monarch was splitting hit the internet Monday (January 12), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
