It has been exactly 6 long years since R. Lee Ermey died in Santa Monica on April 15, 2018 at the age of 74. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Ermey, a cultural icon
Born Ronald Lee Ermey in Emporia on March 24, 1944, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Ermey was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1987 he touched the hearts of millions as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in ‘Full Metal Jacket’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
It's been 6 years since the tragic loss of R. Lee Ermey and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although R. Lee Ermey is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
