It has been exactly 12 long years since ‘La Bicyclette bleue’ author Régine Deforges died in Paris on April 3, 2014 at the age of 78. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed authors of her generation.

Today, fans of Régine Deforges along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic woman she was.

Deforges, a cultural icon

Born in Montmorillon on August 15, 1935, Régine Deforges' career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Deforges was not just a great author, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
