Remembering Richard Burton on the 39th Anniversary of his death

It has been exactly 39 long years since Richard Burton died in Céligny on August 5, 1984 at the age of 58. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Today, fans of Richard Burton (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Burton, a cultural icon

Born in Pontrhydyfen on November 10, 1925, Richard Burton's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Welsh history. Burton was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1966 he touched the hearts of millions as George in ‘Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been 39 years since the tragic loss of Richard Burton and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Richard Burton is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
