It has been exactly 3 long years since Rika Zaraï died in Paris on December 23, 2020 at the age of 82. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed singers of her generation.
Today, fans of Rika Zaraï (Hava naguila, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic woman she was.
Zaraï, a cultural icon
Born Rika Gozman in Jerusalem on February 19, 1938, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Israelian history. Zaraï was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1960 she touched the hearts of millions with ‘Hava naguila’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique musical heritage.
It's been 3 years since the tragic loss of Rika Zaraï and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Rika Zaraï is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
