Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Roberta Flack, 88, and her partner had split up. Is the singer best known for hit songs like Tonight, I Celebrate My Love, The Closer I Get to You or Killing Me Softly with His Song really single again?

Flack spotted alone

A fan spotted Roberta Flack walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 5, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Roberta back on the market?

A rep for Roberta Flack was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the singer was splitting hit the internet Tuesday (January 6), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
