Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Sally Field, 79, and her partner had split up. Is the actress best known for her roles in Lincoln, Brothers & Sisters or Smokey and the Bandit really single again?

Field spotted alone

A fan spotted Sally Field walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 8, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Sally back on the market?

A rep for Sally Field was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the actress - known for having been romantically involved with Burt Reynolds - was splitting hit the internet Friday (January 9), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
