Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Sally Rooney, 35, and her partner had split up. Is the author of Intermezzo really single again?

Rooney spotted alone

A fan spotted Sally Rooney walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of April 8, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Sally back on the market?

A rep for Sally Rooney was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the author was splitting hit the internet Thursday (April 9), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
