Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Selena Gomez, 33, and her partner had split up. Is the actress best known for her role on the television series Wizards of Waverly Place really single again?

Gomez spotted alone

A fan spotted Selena Gomez walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 8, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Selena back on the market?

A rep for Selena Gomez was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the actress - known for having been romantically involved with Justin Bieber or Nick Jonas - was splitting hit the internet Friday (January 9), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
