Remembering Serge Gainsbourg, 34 Years Later

It has been exactly 34 long years since Serge Gainsbourg died in Paris on March 2, 1991 at the age of 62. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.

Today, fans of Serge Gainsbourg (La Javanaise, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Gainsbourg, a cultural icon

Born Lucien Ginsburg in Paris on April 2, 1928, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Gainsbourg was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1963 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘La Javanaise’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.

It's been 34 years since the tragic loss of Serge Gainsbourg and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Serge Gainsbourg is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
