It has been exactly 2 long years since Sinéad O'Connor died in London on July 26, 2023 at the age of 56. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed singers of her generation.

O'Connor, a cultural icon

Born Sinéad Marie Bernadette O'Connor in Glenageary on December 8, 1966, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Irish history. O'Connor was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1990 she touched the hearts of millions with ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique musical heritage.
