Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Sydney McLaughlin, 27, and her partner had split up. Is the American athlete really single again?

McLaughlin spotted alone

A fan spotted Sydney McLaughlin walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of August 17, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Sydney back on the market?

A rep for Sydney McLaughlin was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the athlete was splitting hit the internet Tuesday (August 18), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
