Is the 79-year-old singer officially back on the market?

Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Thelma Houston, 79, and her partner had split up. Is the singer best known for her hit song Don't Leave Me This Way really single again?

Houston spotted alone

A fan spotted Thelma Houston walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of May 19, 2025. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Thelma back on the market?

A rep for Thelma Houston was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the singer was splitting hit the internet Tuesday (May 20), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
