It has been exactly one year since Tony Bennett died in New York on July 21, 2023 at the age of 96. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.
Today, fans of Tony Bennett (I Left My Heart in San Francisco, Blue Velvet, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Bennett, a cultural icon
Born Anthony Dominick Benedetto in New York on August 3, 1926, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Bennett was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1951 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘Blue Velvet’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
It's been one year since the tragic loss of Tony Bennett and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Tony Bennett is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
