It has been exactly 34 long years since Ugo Tognazzi died in Rome on October 27, 1990 at the age of 1. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Tognazzi, a cultural icon
Born Ottavio Ugo Tognazzi in Cremona on March 23, 1992, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Italian history. Tognazzi was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1978 he touched the hearts of millions as Renato Baldi in ‘Birds of a Feather’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
