It has been exactly 34 long years since Ugo Tognazzi died in Rome on October 27, 1990 at the age of 1. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Tognazzi, a cultural icon
Born Ottavio Ugo Tognazzi in Cremona on March 23, 1992, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Italian history. Tognazzi was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1963 he touched the hearts of millions as Alfonso in ‘The Conjugal Bed’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
