It has been exactly 12 long years since Whitney Houston died in Beverly Hills on February 11, 2012 at the age of 48. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed singers of her generation.

Today, fans of Whitney Houston (The Bodyguard, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, I Will Always Love You, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic woman she was.

Houston, a cultural icon

Born in Newark on August 9, 1963, Whitney Houston's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Houston was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1992 she touched the hearts of millions as Rachel Marron in ‘The Bodyguard’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique musical heritage.

It's been 12 years since the tragic loss of Whitney Houston and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Whitney Houston is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
