It has been exactly 33 long years since Yves Montand died in Senlis on November 9, 1991 at the age of 70. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.

Montand, a cultural icon
Born Ivo Livi in Monsummano Terme on October 13, 1921, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Montand was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1972 he touched the hearts of millions as César in ‘César and Rosalie’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
