It has been exactly 6 long years since The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin died in Detroit on August 16, 2018 at the age of 76. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed singers of her generation.
Today, fans of Aretha Franklin (Think, Respect, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic woman she was.
Franklin, a cultural icon
Born in Memphis on March 25, 1942, Aretha Franklin's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Franklin was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1965 she touched the hearts of millions with ‘Respect’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique musical heritage.
It's been 6 years since the tragic loss of Aretha Franklin and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Aretha Franklin is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
