It has been exactly 18 long years since Claude Piéplu died in Paris on May 24, 2006 at the age of 83. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Born in Paris on May 9, 1923, Claude Piéplu's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Piéplu was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1988 he touched the hearts of millions as Hugues-Jean Landreau in ‘Palace’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
