It has been exactly 9 long years since Edward Herrmann died in New York on December 31, 2014 at the age of 71. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Herrmann, a cultural icon
Born in Washington, D.C. on July 21, 1943, Edward Herrmann's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Herrmann was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 2000 he touched the hearts of millions as Richard Gilmore in ‘Gilmore Girls’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
