Remembering Fernando Botero, One Year Later

It has been exactly one year since Fernando Botero died in Monaco on September 15, 2023 at the age of 91. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed painters of his generation.

Today, fans of Fernando Botero along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Botero, a cultural icon

Born in Medellín on April 19, 1932, Fernando Botero's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Colombian history. Botero was not just a great painter, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been one year since the tragic loss of Fernando Botero and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Fernando Botero is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
