It has been exactly 30 long years since Jean Carmet died in Sèvres on April 20, 1994 at the age of 73. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Today, fans of Jean Carmet (Palace, The Fugitives, The Common Man, The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Carmet, a cultural icon

Born in Bourgueil on April 25, 1920, Jean Carmet's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Carmet was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1986 he touched the hearts of millions as M. Martin in ‘The Fugitives’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been 30 years since the tragic loss of Jean Carmet and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Jean Carmet is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
