It has been exactly 12 long years since Jenni Rivera died in Iturbide on December 9, 2012 at the age of 43. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed singers of her generation.

Today, fans of Jenni Rivera (Basta ya, Paloma Negra, Amiga si lo ves, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic woman she was.

Rivera, a cultural icon

Born Dolores Janney Rivera in Long Beach on July 2, 1969, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Rivera was not just a great singer, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 2007 she touched the hearts of millions with ‘Paloma Negra’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique musical heritage.

It's been 12 years since the tragic loss of Jenni Rivera and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Jenni Rivera is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
