It has been exactly 7 long years since Jerry Lewis died in Las Vegas on August 20, 2017 at the age of 91. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed comedians of his generation.
Today, fans of Jerry Lewis (The Nutty Professor, The Delicate Delinquent, ...) along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Lewis, a cultural icon
Born Joseph Levitch in Newark on March 16, 1926, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Lewis was not just a great comedian, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1963 he touched the hearts of millions as Professor Julius Kelp in ‘The Nutty Professor’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
It's been 7 years since the tragic loss of Jerry Lewis and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Jerry Lewis is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
