It has been exactly 53 long years since Jimi Hendrix died in London on September 18, 1970 at the age of 27. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed guitarists of his generation.
Today, fans of Jimi Hendrix (Voodoo Child, Hey Joe, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Hendrix, a cultural icon
Born James Marshall Hendrix in Seattle on November 27, 1942, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Hendrix was not just a great guitarist, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1968 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘Voodoo Child’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
It's been 53 years since the tragic loss of Jimi Hendrix and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Jimi Hendrix is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
